Some of our Rm 6 students played netball at the Te Atiawa Courts in Paraparaumu.

Tu and Micah introduced our item in the school assembly.

We sang a song with Room 1.  The song was called "Where have all the flowers gone?", a song that was popular when the Veitnam war was on.

Joshua read his Peace poem to the whole school assembly.

The workbench is a popular break time activity for lots of the girls.  Emily made herself a pencil case.

WELCOME BACK LAURA
Laura came and visit us at school after six weeks in hospital.  She still has her feeding tube but is doing really well.   Laura's mum, Mandy, spoke to the class and thanked the class for all the letters, cards and visits Laura received while she was in hospital.  Mandy explained to the class about Laura's medical condition and that it will be a few days before Laura restarts school part-time.

Our class won the school recycling award for the amount of paper and cardboard we managed to recycle.

Bee shares her "dog tags" with the class.  She explained that they were worn by soldiers so if they were killed their bodies could be identified.

We have lots of children who have written "Peace Poems" following our ANZAC unit.
Here is Joshua's.  You can check out others by going to the children's blogs.  Click on the links on the right hand side.

PEACE IS .....
Peace is love, no fighting, no killing.
Peace is no war, no enemies, no following officer’s commands.
Peace is helping people, no hurting, acceptance.
Peace is no arguments, no shouting, silence
Peace is sharing, no stealing, no crying
Peace is using kind words, no crying, no rudeness
Peace is honesty, no lying.
Peace is using manners, no rude words.
I wish war stopped in the world.

Here are some not negotiables (must be done) and recommendations for our student bloggers that should be followed.

I saw some charts on a classroom wall in Palmeston North which I have added here as I think it has such good ideas,  This first chart helps to make sure that what you put up there on the web for people to see is related to your school work.
If you want to start a home blog that your parents supervise, talk to them and then you can post the non-school topics, videos and photos.

The next chart helps you with your comments on other people's blogs.  I really like the bottom bit with the sentence starters as it gives me lots of ideas about how I can make interesting and useful comments back to the person who is blogging
