YEAR 6 CAMP AT PALM GROVE
In week 8 all the year 6 children in the Te Aramoana syndicate had the opportunity to go to school camp.
As part of the Year 6 camp activities children collected items from the bush and around the camp grounds and turnrd them into Crazy Camp Critters.
Emily and Jamie cook on the camp oven with Mrs Lumsden.
Henry had to do his own dishes just like the other students at the camp. Along with the activities children also had to help prepare food, do the cooks dishes clean the toilet blocks along with keeping their cabins tidy.
Theo and Jacob tear down the water slide, which was a popular activity with the children.
A group of Waikanae students, including Horatio and Oskar from Room 6, programmed mechanical battle-bots to respond to remote control commands and follow tracks, in their recent visit to Mind Labs in Petone.
Children learnt how to programme and control Battle Robots
to respond to inputs from an infrared handset, and also to follow a track using
sensors built into the robots, using a software interface to write the code to
control them.
